SBPA #1 Rustin Petrae

Okay.  Here is the first of my Should be Published Author articles and (as you might've guessed) it's a shameless self-promotion.  I feel that I have the talent to be a first class author, maybe a little rough around the edges, sure, but I think I can make it.  Everyone won't agree, I know that, but the only thing I can do is to keep on writing and hopefully, some of those people will come around.

Here's a little more information about myself:

I was born in San Antonio but I grew up overseas.  In Japan and Korea.  I loved living overseas because it gave me a unique perspective on cultures.  I got to grow up in not one, but two, different cultures and I could see how their ways of thinking, their traditions, and beliefs shaped them as people.  It taught me a lot about differences.

I graduated from Osan American High School in Osan Air Force Base, South Korea.  After I left Korea, I went back to the States and enrolled in college.  While working at a warehouse job, I suffered a very major injury.  My left foot was crushed.  I spent the next two years trying to save it but when It was apparent that there was nothing else the doctors could do, I elected to amputate it.  It was a very hard decision to make and one of the more terrifying moments of my life, but after spending two years with no results, it was a little easier to handle when operation day finally came.  I am a husband to my beautiful wife and father of two awesome kids.  I spent a couple of months recuperating and then I went back to school.  I graduated and got my degree in Graphic Design but came to find out the hard way that the job market wasn't a friend to me.  It took a year to find a job, only to get laid off three months later.  I found another job after that but, as it turned out, that didn't work out either.

It's a tough world out there.  I know that firsthand.  Maybe better than a lot of people.  When my second employment ended, I found Createspace and Amazon.  It allowed me the opportunity to actually try and accomplish something with my writing.  I've loved doing it ever since I was a kid and I've spent a long time writing and writing to improve my characters, their worlds, and their stories.  I want to share them with the world and for the world to love them as much as I do, but only time will tell.  I think they're pretty cool, but I might be a little biased there.

My Books:

The first book I published onto Createspace and Amazon was a novella called Cat's Paw.  I have it listed on my webpage so go ahead and take a look.  If it sounds like a good read, buy it.  You won't be disappointed.

The second book I published was the first book in my Histories of Purga series.  I also have this one listed.  I like the two clashing races I created in this one and I'm actually quite proud of it.  Again, if you buy this book, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
