Your character is out of clean clothes and is reluctantly doing the laundry...
Are they in their own home? A Laundromat? The community laundry room in the basement of the apartment building? Outside on the porch? At the creek or stream? In line at the cleaners? Using the washer and dryer at the hotel or campground?
