Reading for the joy of it

Most of the time, I don't get to read as much as I'd like. Luckily, November has proven so far to be an exceptional reading month. Lucky me, I have a HUGE pile of great things waiting. If you check out my reviews, you'll see I've been busy. (And in case you wonder, it's not that I love every book, I simply won't bother commenting on a book I don't. Life's too short!)
Among my latest happy reading experiences this month? New work by Charles de Lint. Doranna Durgin's sizzling and fun Nocturne romances. Terrific younger adult books by Sean Williams and Garth Nix. I've discovered at long last the marvels of Violette Malan. Also read something not yet published but AWESOME! (One day I'm sure I'll be able to tell you about it.)
And the goodness isn't about to end. I've Tanya Huff's new fantasy, THE SILVERED on my desk. Oh look. An advance reading copy of Anne Bishop's WRITTEN IN RED.
I love my life.
Happy reading, folks!

Julie Czerneda I feel some guilt being such a glutton, but while writing TURN I hardly read anything else. WHEEE!!!!! Flip those pages!!!

Estara That is best, when you finally get a breather ^^ - I always look forward to the summer holidays for extended reading sprees.

Julie Czerneda I tend to create my own backlog -- I stack books by my favourite authors to be my reward when I finish the current book of my own, but the moment I finish I'm always leaping into the next one. This is very unusual. Nice, but unusual!

Estara Not being a writer that backlog scenario is my favourite occurrence - although because I'm not a writer my favourite authors' books never stack up to so high a stack in one month (I think the most was a release from three favourite authors in one month), but some subject matters of books make them better to read on holiday. While at work I usually want pick-me-up stuff to relax, so deep and angsty with emotional pay-off doesn't quite fit the bill.

Enjoy the sensation while it lasts, I say, heh.
