I was working at Burger Chef across the street from the Ford plant in Hapeville for my first job. After weeks of nothing but hamburgers, fries and shakes, I took an afternoon break and walked up to the original Dwarf House and had my first chicken sandwich from what would become Chic-fil-a. I was sixteen. The Burger Chef chain was gone by the time I finished college, but I was able to get my favorite sandwich at the first indoor mall in Atlanta, Greenbriar Mall which was much closer to my home. We were thrilled to have the expansion from Hapeville to the edge of East Point. Little did we know that over the next forty years our local sandwich would spread across the country, but never available on Sundays!
