Rereading those Vixen/Huntress panels reminded me something that I've always wondered about -- do you pick where the italics go, or do letterers?

I do. Bold, italics, weird fonts, the writer picks where they are used. The letterer makes all kinds of other judgment calls…a good letterer is a godsend, I’m telling you.
