WIP mini blog hop

Fellow writer Jesse Kimmel-Freeman suggested this work-in-progress mini blog hop.

What is your working title of your book?

Stella Errans (literally wandering star)

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I attended a meeting this summer in which a researcher pointed out an interesting possibility for someone with a particular disorder of sex development.

What genre does your book fall under?

It’s Young Adult, coming-of-age. It’s also an almost-independent sequel to Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

The protagonist would be Lanna Lyons. She’s the older girl in the Subaru commercial. Perhaps  as her best friend

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

When Alicia’s closer-than-a-twin bishie brother gets married, her world spins out of control.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I’m hoping my current publisher will pick it up.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

Don’t tell anyone, but I’m still working on the first draft.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

It will be similar in genre to Confessions of a Teenage Hermahrodite, but without some of the fantasy elements.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

Readers kept asking about a sequel.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

The novel examines some of the complexities of intersex conditions. What makes a person male or female? Genes? Gonads? Genitals? Gender?

No cover yet… but I’m bouncing around a few ideas.
