
The Collection
The center of the maze was a circular courtyard, similar to the one at the entrance but smaller. In the middle was a marble statue, taller than Matthew by half. The scene was familiar to him: a woman gazing into the face of a small child, the child looking up into the sky. It was the same picture he saw on the tapestries hanging in the shining chapel at Bridge Street Park.
