Interview with Kacey Hammell, author of Tied Down

It gives me great pleasure to welcome fellow Decedent Publishing author, Kacey Hammell to my blog to talk about one of her recent releases. Kacey, can you tell us about your new release, Tied Down?

KH: TIED DOWN is a story of man going after what he wants most—the love of his life. It revisits Isabella & Brady (from Illusions), and a catch-up with them in the form of a short story (an evening) where Brady plans to claim Bella for good. But will she surrender…?

Oh, I loved Illusions, and can’t wait to read this story! Describe the heroine in three words.

KH: Stubborn, protective, feisty.

What genres do you write in, and what appeals to you about those genres?

KH: I read more romantic suspense/contemporary romances. So I think that plays a huge part in why I write within the 2 genres. I have a paranormal ghost story, which still has a contemporary feel to it. And a trilogy that deals with witches and sensory gifts of the characters (which is taking a lot of research!!).

What other titles do you have published?

KH: Protection. Adventure. Love. It’s all found within The Arms of the Law…the series includes: Illusions, Awakenings, Tied Down, Wild Thunder

Sinful – Follow the Music Trilogy Book 1 – a songstress finds that dreams do come true…

Last Man Standing – an old flame resurfaces and threatens a friendship and secret love…

Dare – a crazy dare from her friends brings two people together, who have watched one another from afar…

A Ghost For Christmas – (releases Dec 6th!) – a Christmas gift leads to the best night of her life…with an 18th Century ghost!!

What are you working on now?

KH: I have a WIP that is in the “almost ready” stage to be submitted to a publisher. It’s a Contemporary Ménage—a heroine who meets her two heroes and it has a twist in it that the heroes have to come to grips with.

Sounds great! Are you a plotter or a pantser?

KH: Both. It depends on the “movie” playing through my head when a new idea strikes. If I can see things happening or hear the words in my head, I wait until everything plays out before I start to write/type.

But as with a Paranormal Trilogy that I want to do – a lot of research involved since it has witches and sensory gifts for each hero – I have a lot of paperwork on it. I haven’t “seen” anything in my head yet, but the one hero has chatted with me a bit, and the witch has too. So while that one simmers, I work on other stories. The witch isn’t ready to come out and play just yet! LOL

Where do your best ideas come from?

KH: Can be movies, tv, news headlines. Most of the time it’s music, songs. The latest Nickelback cd has inspired a new story. So much so, it’s already in my head and I just need to type it all up.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to aspiring authors?

KH: Read other books in the genre(s) you want to write in. Write what you know. Don’t let sales/royalties get you down if they are low…just write the next book, and the next…that is the best promo there is. Just keep writing!

Tied Down by Kacey Hammell:

The time has come for Brady Jacobs to grab hold of the woman he loves and their future. But his lady, Isabella Knowles, is skittish. She’ll bolt at the mention of a future with him. He needs to handle her with precise planning, tools to seduce and never give her a moment to flee.

Brady will tie her down, pleasure her, push her farther than she’s ever experienced…then ask her to marry him. But no amount of planning can ensure Bella’s answer won’t include the business end of her Glock.

Excerpt:

Isabella stirred at a tug on her ankle. She shifted, not in any way eager to wake up.

Snuggling her cheek deeper into the pillow, she sighed. The web of slumber curled around her as she relaxed again.

At the shuffle of footsteps and a thump, she stirred. Her eyes flew open and she lifted her head. As she shifted to her side, she gasped.

Why couldn’t she move?

Jesus, what the hell?

Danger screamed through her mind while she took in the room around her. Right where she’d fallen asleep, in Brady’s bed.

No need to fear for her safety. Right?

“What the fuck is this?” Damn the bindings around her wrists and feet. “Brady!” she screamed. She’d kill the bastard who dared to enter their personal space. Cripes, if he’s been hurt, she’d carve out their hearts and throw the bodies in the ocean.

“Brady!”

“I’m right here, babe.”

His head appeared over the foot of the bed. Her heart skipped a beat. Safe. Her head fell back in relief. She’d die if something happened to him. Could never relive him ever being hurt again. She’d barely survived once before when he’d been stabbed and almost blown to bits. She did not ever want to go through anything like it again.

“You okay, babe? These scarves aren’t too tight, are they?”

So lost in her own thoughts, she forgot she lay there, tied like some prisoner.

“What the hell? What’s going on?” He knelt at the end of the bed. She gaped as she took in her naked body, the scarves holding her legs and arms captive. Her heart rate accelerated. She had no control over any of this. Desperate to get out of the ties and the situation, she pulled hard, jerked her limbs to escape their captivity.

“Fuck! Goddamn it. Let me loose.”
