A brief look inside - Legend of the Mediterranean and The Illusive Lord of the Sea (A double book set) by Marlene K. Slade
A bit from: Legend of the Mediterranean and The Illusive Lord of the Sea (A double book set) by Marlene K. Slade
“Look at me if you truly love me,” said the male voice.
Try as I may I could not resist him a moment longer.
He wiped away the somber tears that streamed down my cheeks.
I opened my eyes only to see a dense fog billowing towards me across the great sea I imagined. The sight of the creeping hazy was positively frightening. I went to step away from the edge of the pier to further distance myself from it, but I stopped myself from doing so when I spotted the red ribbon that sank into the sea at the end of my last journey submerge from the depths. I gazed at it with wide eyes, wondering if it were truly there. Sinking down to one knee I reached down to scoop it up.
Abruptly! The sea erupted before me, splashing salt water into my eyes that burned them intensely. Rubbing away the blinding pain, I struggled to keep myself from falling forwards into the water. The instant that I regained my balance and recovered my eyesight a grisly dark hand with gnarled tendrils had sprung up from the dark depths and ensnared me by the wrist. There was no time for me to react. My entire body was wrenched forward with a mighty thrust and I was plunged head first into descending darkness.
