I think I am in a rut. It’s called the American dream.
Side note here. Please do not associate my feelings of dismay for a lack of optimism. I never will give up the dream. Just the stereotypical American one.
The days fly away like… It’s been said horses. I think not.
More like slow moving sloths. Climbing up skinny trees. They stare below through their dark eyes and move at a pace that cries out for mercy. Then the day ends, a few meager hours before bed. A time to call your own. When you are not at the mercy of the man.
We are all slaves.
Be it to money, fame, entertainment, ideals, or obligations. We pay our dues and our time to pursue something called a life.
And we aren’t living.
Even the things we love and desire can become burdens. We elevate them above all else and put them on a pedestal. Then when our idols become shattered as they tip off of the ceremonial platter, we scream. And we give up. And we cry. And we crawl away more broken, tired, and aged than when we began.
There is a hole. A spiritual hole. And only one can fulfill it.
But even then we can once again forget the grace that we have been given. The opportunities we have been offered and the treasure begins to fade.
For all of this is worthless. Everything we own, pursue, and obtain. It glimmers then fades.
So what then is the point? Do we stop striving? Do we stop experiencing the life and the future we have been blessed with? Do we settle?
Never settle.
Though I have no answers. I have questions. I have thoughts that change on a daily basis. I like the idea of living, dancing, sweating, moving, seeing, breathing, laughing, and crying. Experience is all around. To be taken and shared, to hopefully offer more to those around us. We can build up or we can destroy, but little will be left to take with us.
So settle.
Enjoy.
I dont’ know.
I only wander, wonder, question, and explore.
The book. The thing I have been working for… will be out someday. I just have to get a few final pieces together. Some of it is out of my hands. But I promise as soon as I can I will deliver.
Thanks for reading.
C.
