Assembling mechanical ducks

Sorry for the long radio silence -- I spent much of the summer traveling for work, and then September and October getting my ducks back in a row. I always want to say "getting my ducks in gear," which suggests a steampunk duck invasion.

Updates on various things: the manuscript for Inheritors is turned in, and we're expecting the first round of edits soon. It's a little sad to be reaching the end of the series, after three years! But I've greatly enjoyed getting to be part of this post-series voyage for the Atlantis team, and I like where we're leaving the characters and their story.

I don't have a release date yet on Death by Silver, my Victorian fantasy/mystery novel co-written with Melissa Scott, but it should be sometime next year. Jo Graham and I are working on a new draft of Lifeboat, a SF novel about a group of starship passengers stranded on a strange planet; we've removed its original frame story, which feels a bit like trying to turn a live animal inside out, and are currently smoothing out the last third of the manuscript.

And now I should really go wind up more ducks ...
