Day 1 #NaNoDiary2012

Today I woke up at 3:30 pm, so I didn't have the best of starts to NaNo... but, I'm glad that I'm not starting a new project for it, I love looking at my word count and seeing the dent that's already been made. As I've previously mentioned I'm using a project that I want to add 50k+ words to.

Starting word count: 15,372

Finishing word count: 17,126

Words written: 1,754

A very good feeling, and I'm sure that it will only get better. I'm hoping to treat myself tonight (whenever it becomes available in the UK) to an episode of The Vampire Diaries! Very excited for that as I've seen some trailers for this weeks episode.

So here's an excerpt of the project that I'm working on:

Excerpt, Clandestine

“Leave—me!”
I shouted, thrusting my body, trying to swing or sway, knock their balance,
anything to get away.

“Have
you seen him?” the man to my right said. “He’s like a lost pup.”

A
tremor started in my veins, tickling at my wrists and eating its way up my
arms. The closer it came to my chest the faster I started to breathe, and then
it touched me, and I spasmed, I let it all out; my muscles burst inside, giving
in to a burning sensations.

“Argh!”
Both of the men yelped as they dropped me and fell to the ground, crippling
inside themselves.

Clandestine is up on Goodreads for you to add to your 'to-read' list. [LINK]

Remember that the first word down in a new project is always the hardest, and if you've got your 1,667 words down, then well done, you're on your way to winning NaNo.

How's NaNo been for you?

Have you exceeded 1,667?
