A tiny Jacob & Daniel freebie

When I went to GayRomLit I wasn't registered as an author. So I didn't bring swag or books to sign.

Some readers actually brought along their own copies of my books. That was such a trip, to think that they bothered to pack those, just so I could write in them. I signed at least a dozen, and I love you all. Thank you!

But I did want to have something on hand to sign, if people asked. What I ended up with was one sheet of paper, a thousand word snippet that comes after Into Deep Waters, my LiAW free book. It's a short, somewhat sentimental look at Jacob and Daniel. I handed out about 20 copies, and a few people picked one up from the stack William Cooper let me put on his signing table (thank you William!)

I promised someone who wasn't going to GRL that I would eventually post the story. It's now up on my website. Deep Waters 1.005. The title is Can't Hurt to Believe and I promise no one dies.

Now I have to dig into my NaNoWriMo story. The concept of National Novel Writing Month is to get together with lots of people and push each other to write at least 50,000 words in November. I can use the push - family stuff has kept me busy not-writing. I hope to use this to finish a stand-alone novel. Wish me luck.

Kira oh Kaje, no one died and you still made me tear up. it's a lovely story, thanks so much!

Urbanista You have a lot of nerve, writing about a decades long love affair. And then to write about them still in love in their eighties! Wow. I wish more authors had your kind of courage and compassion. Such a beautiful couple, thank you!

Please do, then I'd get to see it! ;p

Kaje Harper This wasn't a particularly artistic year - I was short of time. But ugly works as a threat too.

message 8: by Jess (new)

Jess Candela Isn't Cthulu supposed to be kind of ugly?

message 9: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper Yeah, but there's intentional and kind of haphazard. It was fun, anyway, just not up to my usual. I love carving pumpkins, but had less time than usual.

Sunne *sniff*...I love it, they are still so good.

Barb ~rede-2-read~ Kaje, that was so beautiful! Thank you so much for posting it. I loved it! Now I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy. You made my day. :-)

Kaje Harper I'm all for the warm and fuzzies sometimes :)

KindleRomance Reviews Thank you for sharing this beautiful glimpse into their lives. Of course I cried almost immediately. I love how much emotion you pack into a few carefully worded sentences. Blows my mind!

I'm glad you liked it. Someone said something after Deep Waters about the characters having nowhere to go beyond that book but die... well, dammit, they're going to love and live another decade, God willing, as husbands. Why not?

message 15: by Sunne (new)

Sunne Such a .....sorry, they might have died a day after the wedding or they live another decade - it doesn't matter, they already have lived a long time in love together. I never experienced the end of the book as the end of their life, just like a moment to take a break, look at the love they have and be happy that they had found each other and stayed together.

message 16: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper Yes, a celebration. That's how it was intended. But I can never quite let go of characters, so this was fun to do.

Sunne Oh...I wouldn't mind reading more about them, I love them ;)
