Between Friends

Between friends there should be trust.



There should be love.



There should be understanding.



Friends should have one another’s back.



Friends can go months without speaking and pick up where they left off.



Friends know how to say, “I’m sorry.”



Friends know how to say, “I forgive you.”



Friends know when to be silent.



And they know when to speak up.



Friends know when to walk away.



And they know when to intercede.



Friends don’t judge.



Yet they always speak the truth.



A friend will know your insecurities.



They will know your hidden fears.



Friends will challenge you to stretch yourself.



Yet they will catch you when you fall.



I thank you, the one I call friend.



You are treasured and I am blessed
