In the MANY years that I have been reading Card, NEVER thought of him as a TV critic, but yes, I agree with this in every point mentined!!

Thanks for the heads up on Quench Editions e-books.
I've watched both Sherlock and Elementary. Where Sherlock is amazing, wonderful, and full of tie-ins with the original books - Elementary is not; it is boring with a plot of the week not unlike any other boring detective/CSI show on TV. Sherlock made me enjoy the world BBC created, Elementary on the other hand does not and it bored me so much so, I've stopped watching by episode 3. I'm not angry at the changes, Watson as a woman is great, changes to location is great, but the lack of any connection between the books and Elementary just makes a show with characters with familiar names - it's like Family Guy doing Star Wars (well, at least that was good). Heck, bring back Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century and I'd still watch that.
I've enjoyed both reboots. And while I didn't particularly dig Sherlock's Hounds of Baskerville episode, I do prefer the mini-series structure/length.
