Thank you Christine. I'm an active member of RWNZ which is the NZ equivalent of your RWA. You couldn't ask for a more supportive writer group. Information on writing, publishing, marketing is always readily available. Thank you for your advice here on Goodreads.

They offer guidance, writing tips, opportunities to pitch to agents and editors, and the venues to connect with other passionate novelists-in-training. To this day, I don't understand how anyone produces quality fiction without first learning the ropes in one of their chapters, or in a Mystery Writer's chapter.
Many thanks for reading along. Here's wishing you all the best in your publishing career!
Thank you Christine. Loving writing is only the start. Learning the craft is another story & these organisations are a best place to begin.

That opus sits dusty and unloved in my file cabinet (wrote it in college when the world was new). Regarding agents: I feel your pain. New American Library considered bringing my Liberty series out in hardback but the Wall Street Meltdown nixed the deal. Precious few debuts arrived in the dog year of 2009. If not for my valiant critique partners, I never would've gone indie. Single parent with four teens--I was not the world's bravest novelist.
Here's wishing you all the best in your career--with or without an agent!
