A little over a year ago, I was lucky enough to meet John Picacio, an extraordinary (and now Hugo award winning) fantasy artist. It was before Shadow and Bone came out, and though John was basically one of the guests of honor at a Worldcon party I attended, he took the time to chat with me about covers and art and what it’s like to work in SF&F.

John is now launching his own company, Lone Boy, and he’s gota truly awesome Kickstarter campaign going. There are all kinds of awesome treats and incentives— from signed sketches and prints to having your birthday or release date added to the full print run of his 2013 calendar. (Dibs on June 4th for Siege and Storm!) You can even model for an original work. I am sorely tempted to see myself riding a fire-breathing unicorn and wearing a red kefta.

So I hope you guys will get in there, nab yourself a calendar, and help support a generous and gifted artist!
