World Journalism Institute - first day

asheville.jpgBusy here in Asheville at the World Journalism Institute.

yesterdayBeautiful drive down yesterday with mountains and fall colors. Great to meet Marvin and Susan Olasky and be the beneficiary of their teaching.

My classmates are great - diverse backgrounds and occupations but all united in wanting to learn journalism skills.

I've already learned so much - including how to use google docs!

We are busy critiquing each other's work - a process I love. Reminds me of when I took yoga classes and the instructor would come by and gently touch one spot and my body would correct itself automatically. Not a perfect analogy, because sometimes the criticism is brutal and setting it right is painstaking, but the epiphany once you've learned how to overcome your weakness is phenomenal.

So grateful for Tripp and Matt holding down the fort so I can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. So excited about the future.

Settling down in my motel room to eat my leftovers from last night and watch the debate. Missing my blogging and facebooking, but eager to return better than ever.
