I made a couple of posts last year regarding the use of maps in fantasy. I still feel that many maps can be a distraction, making it too easy for readers to forego using their heads to visualize the geography of a story. But maybe I just like to torture myself.
Well, as the year has turned, I’ve moved on to the writing ofEidylon, and the nature of the story tells me maps are a necessity, but only in so far as giving some basic reference to where things lie in relation to the city that lends it...
