I've always wanted to know - to be a writer for comic books, do you have to be a good artist? Or is being a good writer considered enough?

I think it’s a huge help if you can draw. Many of the best writers in the industry can draw very well, many are writer/artists where they are at a level where they can draw a book convincingly themselves.

But I can barely do stick figures—I am horrible. There are a few of us out there. It’s not a NECESSITY to be able to draw, but I think it’s a huge help.
