Playing Catch Up

Hi Everyone, I’ve been busy writing, and catching up on work. It’s a sharp contrast to my Paris life where I work, but I play too. When I get back to California, it’s nose to the grindstone time!! But I wanted to check in with you.

I had some legal things to take care of when I got home, which is never fun. I went to the dentist, not highly amusing, but only a cleaning. I go to the dentist, (with terror), always prepared to hear that my head is falling off—-you mean you didn’t know? It’s silly of me, because I have an incredibly nice/good dentist, who has a wonderful hygienist, but I get nervous anyway. I guess most people do. (My late husband John was one of those people who made 5 hour dentist appointments, just to get it all out of the way at once (I would rather go 10 times for half an hour!!).   I went to pick him up once after some rugged dental surgery, he was fine, and I passed out cold in the elevator just thinking about what they’d done to him.  But anyway, I got my teeth cleaning out of the way when I got back.

I’m working on research, an outline, and notes for a new book, which keeps me busy. Got a glimpse of one daughter, had dinner with another, gave a birthday party for my youngest, have seen one of my sons a couple of times, and I am honored that he is taking me to a playoffs game. I can’t wait to go with him!!

I’ve just generally been tackling all the work that piles up on my desk, answering mail, writing emails, paying bills. (Yuk). No art exhibits, no fun evenings, no antique shows or auctions here. And sadly, 3 of my daughters spent 10 days working in Paris, and I had to be in California, so I missed them, but I came back to visit my kids in California. My girls were working on Fashion Week in Paris, which is always exciting and fun. I didn’t leave my house at all for 4 days, chained to my desk.

So that’s what my life looks like in California. Work, work, work!!! But it feels great to get it done.

I hope that the fall is off to a good start for you. I’m starting to think about the holidays, making plans, and starting on my Christmas shopping. I’m one of those annoying people who start early, but I write a lot this time of year, and don’t have much spare time, so I do it when I can.

It was warm in San Francisco for a few days, and I missed it, sitting at my desk. My life definitely doesn’t sound as ‘glamorous’ here!! Back to the grind….I hope that all is well with you.

Love, Danielle
