15 Minutes With James Morrison

James Morrison, who was the biggest-selling British male solo artist then at only 21, came into the music scene with his first record, Undiscovered in 2006. One of his most popular tunes off this album was "You Give Me Something."

Following the success of his debut album, he came out with Songs For You, Truths For Me. And that's exactly how we'd describe his music: truthful, honest. When asked about keeping things private despite being so open and honest in his songs, he says, "I'm only honest about universal things." He thinks that there are still a lot of things that he keeps to himself, but his goal is to write songs that people can relate to. "I think my responsibility that I put on myself as an artist is to try and write songs for people who can't express themselves," he shares. Taking his dad's advice to keep a little something for himself, he says, "I try to be private in my personal life, but through my songs I try and be as honest as I can be without giving too much away."
