A Thank You, an Explanation and a Promise

In the past few weeks I have been receiving an amazing amount of feedback and support from readers and I need to take a moment to tell you how much this has meant to me. I may be a writer, but I am at a loss for words that will properly express how grateful and humbled I am by the outpouring of love this book has received from you. So I will simply say thank you, sincerely, and hope you understand.

Next, an answer and explanation to the ever-present sequel question. First, I want to say that there is no greater compliment you could give me than to want to spend more time with these characters. And there is nothing I would like to do more than to be able to say yes. But that would be unfair to the story and the characters themselves. I feel like I put these characters through a true amount of hell and the only way to write a sequel would be to put them through more. Without going into detail as to avoid ruining it for anyone who hasn't read, I will say that I believe I left the characters exactly where they were supposed to be and to manufacture conflict for them at this point would be to negate the ending of the story.

I am working on a concept now that may be connected, though in no means a sequel, to The Sea of Tranquility. I need to make sure that the story is there and that I can tell it properly before I make any announcements about it. When I know whether or not I will be able to execute the idea and give it the respect it deserves, I will be able to provide more details on that.

Lastly, paperbacks. I know I have been promising that these would be available soon. I encountered an unanticipated hold-up in the production of the physical books and so it will take a little longer than originally planned. I promise there will be paperbacks and as soon as I have an estimated delivery time I will let you know. I'm very sorry for the wait.

That's all for now! I'll keep updates posted here and on my Facebook page. Thank you again for reading and for all of the support you have shown for The Sea of Tranquility. You are all truly amazing!

Fred Thanks for the update, Katja, good to know what's going on. As much as I'd love to spend more time in TSOT-world (assuming my heart could take it), those two have def had enough drama, trauma and conflict! Excited to hear you are thinking about your next project, and looking forward to the pb's too!

message 2: by .Lili. (new)

.Lili. I agree- they need to have their HEA. I would love to read Drew's, Sarah's, and Asher's stories though :)

message 3: by Amy (new)

Amy I just have to say that I read TSOT almost a month ago and I still cannot stop thinking about it. It is definitely a story that will stay with me forever! I cannot wait to hear what your next project will be!

message 4: by Jeannie (new)

Jeannie Smith I agree completely! I loved all the characters, but the ending was perfect - I will just imagine in my mind what happened right after Emilia answered Josh's question and what their future was.

message 5: by Leticia (new)

Leticia Katja, thanks for the update! I totally agree with you, I feel the book have an amazing ending, both Emilia and Josh are where they should be (together!!) and I appreciate that you want to preserve that instead of going with a non-sense sequel with more drama and problems. I am also really happy to know that you are planning on another book, I think you are an amazing writer!!

Samia Ruponti I simply can't express how much I loved The Sea Of Tranquility. I'm so glad it was my birthday and my friend thought to give me this awesome gift! I kind of see what you mean by the characters are exactly where they are supposed to be, so I'll be delighted to have a sequel, but I'll be quite happy with a related book too. The bottom line is, I'm going to read the next book, related or not.

message 9: by Katja (new)

Katja Millay Thank you all! :)

message 10: by Deanna (new)

Deanna Donnelly I am an avid reader & can say with complete honesty that The Sea of Tranquility was one of the BEST books I have ever read! As much as I want a sequel, I too believe it ended exactly as it should have (perfect from beginning to end)... besides I'm not sure my heart could take it! Congratulations Katja on your success & I look forward to reading more from you!

message 11: by Norlin (new)

Norlin I actually agree with you Katja for not having a sequel to The Sea of Tranquility. I did love the ending, speaks volumes and I fell in love with the characters instantly. Can't wait for your next project though! And yes, I'll be re-reading this book again!

Kelly 'Perusing Princesses blog' The ending of this book was true perfection, it doesn't warrant a sequel. I do however, very much look forward to your next project.

message 13: by Wendy (new)

Wendy I wrote my own little review that explained my feelings...Its such a treat to be able to escape in a book and become so immersed in deep emotions of the characters. I totally did that to this book, even when it was the pain and despair that makes you cry, the laughter and nodding of understanding about what they feel and go through. The ending was just perfect and even though I maybe should have known it was coming, I felt totally surprised and my heart went went into my throat and I just cried. Wonderful, best ending I have read in a really long time!!

Ira YOU ARE A FREAKING AWESOME WRITER!! REALLY. THE BOOK JUST BLEW MY MIND. I think I found my new favorite book!! Wait, scratch that.. I don't just think, but I KNOW I have found the perfect book!! So really all I can say is THANK YOU for bringing such great book into life and for sharing it to us! The book being a stand-alone is also perfect. And I totally agree with you deciding not to hold a sequel!! Don't get me wrong, I love seeing more of them but I guess what you have written for their story was enough as it is. Which made the whole thing PERFECT. :) You just did so much justice with the characters of this book that I am left in awe. I just hope you write more moving books! I will surely be looking out for more of your works! Don't take too long writing your next project! Hihi :)

message 23: by Joy (new)

Joy I stumbled upon this book and I am so glad I did!!! Loved the story and the characters. Loved the multiple pov's. As much as I would love a sequel I thought the ending was PERFECT. So much so that I had to go back and reread her reaction to what Josh's Grandfather told him and it completely melted my heart! Thank you for a beautiful love story that I will read again and again. Looking foward to whatever is next!

message 24: by Kristel (new)

Kristel I'm saying this again for the nth time.. I so love your book! :) really, you have great writing skills. I just can't wait for your next project! :) good luck! :)

message 25: by justwant2read (new)

justwant2read I have just finished this book, at first I was thinking NOOOOO I need more - but I don't. I wouldn't want them to go through anything more than what they went through. The ending was perfect and I think that each reader can take from it what they want. I know I did :)

message 26: by Steph (new)

Steph Such a great story Katja. Thank you a million times over for writing this book. It is such an emotial roller coaster and I can't wait to read whatever you have planned for us next!

message 28: by Lori (new)

Lori Ramos I also loved this book! I was happy with the ending but sad for it to end. Really looking forward to your next book.

message 29: by Victoria (new)

Victoria You are right- a sequel would not be fair to them. They have been through enough. As soon as I read about his grandfather's 'vision' I thought about her first night in the garage. And it was nerve wracking to wait for confirmation until the last words of the book. As I read the last page I had a huge smile on my face. Then as soon as the words were spoken, the tears started to fall. You are a magnificent storyteller. I am looking forward to reading more from you.

Gina's Escape and Reality Sometimes beautiful things just need to be left as they are. Let them be their beautiful self with no changes. In this case I agree no sequel is best.

message 31: by Jen Newby (new)

Jen Newby I LOVED this story! And as much as I feel that I'm really missing the characters, I don't want a continuation... because you are exactly right! The ending was perfect, the book is perfect, there needs to be no more. But I'm sad...I miss Josh :( I'll wait a while and read this one again. It's just that good!

message 32: by Denise (new)

Denise Alcaraz I have to say I am relieved you are not writing a sequel. The story was perfect the way it was written, and you are right about not wanting to manufacture another conflict. I am truly getting tired of the trilogy crap in Romance novels lately. I just want a good story, period. Thank you for a wonderful read. I don't write reviews unless I am truly moved. Your story did just that. I will follow you in anticipation of your next novel.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

WOW. There are no words that explain how much I enjoyed reading your book Katja. You are a flawless writer and I'm SO excited to read any of your future novels. I'm actually glad you aren't writing a sequel because the book was absolutely perfect. I'm so excited to say that this one of my favourite reads ever. You are an amazing storyteller and thank you for sharing your talent with the rest of us!
