Migraine relief...hum...have you tried drinking some caffeine and taking Motrin or another anti inflammatory? Sometimes that works for me. If that doesn't work...I'm not a doctor or anything but it really sounds like you have a sinus infection...I'd suggest a hot steamy towel over your face for as long as you can stand it along with the above. If that doesn't work...maybe try a sinus decongestant....hope this helps

And tell your hubby that sex doesn't cure headaches forever....just until the end and then it's back with a vengeance! Although the pain free pleasure filled time is kinda nice....
Hi Marianna, I'm a bit limited on what meds I can take because my epilepsy meds don't get along very well with many others - awkward sods. At first I did wonder if I had a sinus infection but then the migraine really kicked in and I knew for sure it wasn't my sinuses. I'll try the hot steamy towel though purely because it sounds nice. I find it amazing that men can actually be such opportunists, convincing an ill person they need to have sex to get better; no sympathy whatsoever. Thanks and take care!
I totally feel you on migraine pain. For me, because i have low blood pressure, i can't take the traditional medications. What i take is, 2 Benadryl tabs, 800mg ibuprofen, 500mg of Tylenol and, if you have it, Phenegan or Compazine. Those two drugs are used for anti-nausea. I learned this trick from an old teacher of mine, when i was in school to become an EMT @AmericanMedicalResponse. It really works! And even if you don't have any Phenegan or Compazine, it still should help lessen the pain.
I hope this helps you as it has for me. Good Luck and feel better!
The American Neurological Assoc. has new guidelines for the prevention and treatment of migraines. Some of which include seizure medication, coincidentally. I'm including the link below, but I'm one of those chronic migraine people you mentioned, so if you'd like to talk more about what I do, and what my docs prescribed, email me. Oh, I get awful migraines, have since I was a kid. I definitely feel your pain. =/ Mine come from an MSG sensitivity, so figuring how to get that out of my diet worked wonders. Taking ibuprofen early, before it really gets going and about twice the usual dose, can help. Besides that, magnesium supplements help for some reason, and ginger is great for nausea. I hope that helps. It really is the worst pain.
Thanks Ginamarie, Jen & Ashley for all the advice, and thanks for the link Jen! Had it for four & a half days now, I'm practically rattling with all the painkillers I'm taking. Sorry to hear you all have to deal with them so often!Take care.
Hello Suzanne. I am sorry to hear about the Migraines. I have them too and there is NOTHING that really works for be but - Midrin. I have extreme and numerous allergies to a LOT of medications so i have to be very careful. Midrin is a prescription medication. It is NOT a pain killer. Pain Killers seem to cause mine to get worse unless they make me pass out for a few hours. lol Sorry, not funny. :) I hope you get well soon and even if you don't have the Migraine any longer, still request this prescription from your doctor to have when it flares up again. (Because they are worse then a Mother-In-Law! They show up when you don't expect or want them too!) JK :) As for your release dates - YAY!!
I get migraines as well and the only thing that will really help is to see your doctor have have him or her give you a script for IMITREX (thats specifically for migraines)you want to take the medicine and lay down with soft ice pack for 1 hour of so and that usually does the trick for me. Once I take it I have to lay down otherwise it won't work for me if I go about my normal bussiness. Reading and I'm sure trying to write will make your headache 20x's worse. Give imitrex a try!! dont forget you need your doc to write script and they don't usually have a problem with it because its not like its tylenol 3 or any major addicting drug. Good Luck!! P.S. I just love Feral Sins and I can't wait for more from the phoenix pk, please don't leave any good stuff out!!!
You have got to love men as God does love a tryer! I thought it was just my husband whose was as considerate and as romantic as a breeze block, but alas no it looks like a national epidemic! I am presuming you have been checked out but the doctor? Many years ago my mum was fobbed off being told it was her eye make-up causing the migraines (it was the 70's after all), until she went and it was a locum instead, who sent her straight the hospital. Luckily or unluckily for her, she went on to have my good self, but nowadays it's good practice not to be fobbed off until its sorted. Surly there has to be a medication out there so you can enjoy day to day life-if not its scary times! On a positive note these migraines might be caused by the amount of time your spending writing, which can only selfishly mean good things for your increasing numbers of fans ;) i.e me! Who is waiting to press the mummy switch in my mind, so all I can hear is your written words in my head and only remember the children arguing in the background when my concentration has failed due to laughing at what you have written :D As you can tell I'm only slight excited by your news, so I will stop rambling and wish you heartfelt speedy recovery!!
Thank you all!Migraine has finally eased off (well, it's kind of like a dull background pain which is good enough for me).
Lettee - loved that comment about the mother-in-law. It's so true it's not even funny.
Tammy - thanks for the advice about the ice pack. Lying down didn't last long because my daughter snatched the ice pack and ran. She got a bloody shock when she felt how cold it was though.
Beamo31 - I totally sympathise with you about the breeze block thing and the noisy children. Sorry to hear your mum was fobbed off for so long. A similar thing happened to my grandad who was given aspirin for years for heartburn when it turned out his gall bladder doesn't work - aspirin was probably the worst thing he could have been taking.
Take care everyone!
I know they take time and money but a massage might do wonders. A friend of mine used to suffer from debilitating migraines that did not respond to pain medication. He had instant effects when he got his first massage. Now he gets two massages per month and hasn't had a migraine in years!Glad to hear that you're feeling better now, but always a thought for the future.
