Putnam contracts for Inspector Vaara series Books 5 & 6
A deal has been reached with U.S. publisher G.P Putnam’s Sons for Books 5 & 6 in the Inspector Vaara series. So Kari Vaara will be around through at least the year 2016, and I will be having a good steak and an excellent bottle of red this evening.

Thanks Friends, I'm more relieved than anything. Now I don't have to worry about getting a day job until I'm 50. Of course, then, no one will want to give me one, and I'll REALLY stress. Luckily, my birthday is October 16th, so it will all be decided again two weeks before my half century mark. It's weird how life falls into schedules. Day, week, month, year, two years, 25 years. If we're lucky enough to live to see them.

And I am glad you are as cannot wait to read more and see what other characters and stories you come up with as time goes on.
The next book is written and the books I just sold were based on detailed proposals, so I'm halfway there. Also, I have it built into me for some reason that if my career as a writer didn't earn a sufficient living, I would have to go back to bartending. I forget things like I have a Master's degree and will have published at least nine books. Somebody would probably give me a job :-)

Again, thanks all. And Sharon, I agree with you. Writers get very excited to publish their first book, especially when it's with a great publisher. And they should be, it's a great achievement and source of pride. But really, it's only a beginning. It takes 4-6 quality books to estabish a career. I've released three in English. This latest deal is a tremendous opportunity for me.As I've quoted before, but find so wise I think it worth repeating. A successul writer friend and I wrote a film treatment together, just for fun, because we wanted to do a project together. We were working one day and he said. "Jim, most people never discover what they want to do in life. Of those who do, very few are able to do it. You and I are paid to do what we love. We're the luckiest men in the world."
We both got busy and never finished the movie. It's laying on my shelf. Just needs dialogue to be a script.

Jim, when you've finished your series and don't know what to do next, perhaps you'll lend your hand and wisdom to turn my recent book into a screen play :) I agree that writing is one of the best jobs on earth, paid or unpaid :)

Who knows? Maybe if/after I see my own work on screen, we will.
