Just when I thought I couldn't be *more* disappointed in people

Pope Decides Gay People Aren’t Fully Developed Humans.

Okay, I'm not quite sure I agree with the headline interpretation, but either way, the message is pretty much endorsed intolerance. Intolerance endorsed by a religion. A religion founded on a figure who preached tolerance. *boggles* Which I guess I should have learned to expect by now, but still. It would be nice to think we actually learned a thing or two from the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Salem witch trials and the Civil Rights Move...

Sherry F Oh my gawd! So that's what brought on Lady Gaga's comment. Thanks for sharing.

Kaje Harper I didn't know the etymology of the word marriage - thanks for adding another layer of crazy to peoples' need to force their narrow viewpoint on the world at large.

Carole Cummings @Sherry--Yeah, well, I have a feeling Lady Gaga might be able to rival the Pope in terms of the number of faithful followers. Her hats are so much more fashionable. ;)

@Kaje--Unfortunately, it's getting to the point where I'm having a hard time separating the rhetoric from the person. It used to be I could calmly and pleasantly agree to disagree, but now I just want to punch people's faces in.

Sherry F @Carole.... I personally don't care for either's hats but that's just me. And the punching people?! Totally get it but it seems to be frowned upon for some reason even though they clearly needed/deserved it! :P

Erin I'm sorry if I offend people (this is not intended to be a blanket statement). I think the Catholic church should be last people who should be preaching tolerance and be taken seriously but should we really expect anything more. Looking at their history I'm surprised more people are not outraged, offended and outright sickened by their actions, past and present.

Carole Cummings @Sherry--Frowned upon. *snort*

@Erin--Too true, and it keeps surprising me as well, which is most of my problem, I guess. I shouldn't be surprised anymore but I have this annoying bubble of blind hope that sometimes makes me think 'Surely people see this?' until I see all the angry, screaming faces shouting about how God hates inser-what-annoys/scares-you here. Maybe it's my own fault for being an optimist? 0_o

Erin And yet, for some reason I cannot stop being an optimist. :D
