This should be interesting~~ from Daniel’s diary

Things have been moving along smoothly so far. We made it to Los Angeles and finally got the house in some kind of order. I’ve gotten Janie a job at a karaoke bar; hopefully this will keep her busy and out of trouble. I don’t want her wandering the streets. I don’t think she quite comprehends this isn’t Greenwood. This is no small town that she can run around in until 3 in the morning. There’s dangers out here she never came across in Louisiana.

Anthony owns the bar and the manager William promised me he’d keep an eye on her while I was gone on business. I am away for days, sometimes weeks and I worry about her so much. In so many ways she’s naive, yet she’s also much wiser beyond her years. I know this is because of what we went through back home. But this place is different. In this place a lot more could happen to her than what did back home.

She’s been asking some questions lately about my work and who I work for. Naturally,  I can’t say too much, but I know the time is coming for her to meet Anthony and his assistant Rico. I just know how she is and I know she’s going to try to read them. The last thing I need is for her to see something she shouldn’t see; which means I’ll have to tell them not to shake her hand. Hmm, wonder how well that’ll go over. I don’t want them thinking Janie is crazy or anything.

Anthony, Rico, and Phil are coming into town sometime in the next couple of weeks. I know they’re going to be hanging out at the club, so I guess I’ll introduce them then. As the title says: This should be interesting!
