Tomorrow’s Probably Not National Proposal Day

[image error]Last month I went to this site (http://www.gone-ta-pott.com/Romantic_...) and learned that tomorrow, September 23rd, is National Proposal Day. So, here I am, ready to write my post about proposing tomorrow. I Google National Proposal Day, and everything says it was March 20th. I’m six months off. Thank you Gone-Ta-Pott.com. So, now what am I to do?

Well, if you are like me, you didn’t realize that National Proposal Day was in March. If you have been contemplating popping the question, but needed a nudge to get you over that hump, lucky for you, there’s no need to wait until next spring. At least one website on the web will accept you proposing today as a part of “their” national awareness day.

In all seriousness, though. We often wait for “something” to take a big step: New year’s day to start going to the gym, Monday to cut out donuts, and March 20th to ask our betrothed for their hand. Humans are creatures who often look for an official day to do something new. I don’t recommend couples to become engaged too early. if they are not absolutely sure they want to be with their partner for a lifetime, I suggest they continue dating until they realize they should get hitched, or call it quits.

But, if you have made that mental commitment, but are waiting for a birthday, an anniversary of Valentine’s Day to make it official…forget about it! Go ahead and do it tomorrow. Pop the question and get that ball rolling. As Billy Crystal said in When Harry Met Sally, “…When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” Might as well start the rest of your life on September 23rd…and if you don’t read this until after the 23rd, don’t wait until next year. Start the rest of your life tomorrow.
