Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by
Patrick SüskindMy rating:
4 of 5 starsA great little horror story that lacks emotion. Set in eighteenth-century France, follow Jean-Baptiste Grenouille as he builds the perfect perfume, and he enlists the help of some noble young virgins along the way. An easy read after being interpreted from German to English. My only complaint would be the after-stories. After Grenouille is brought into this world, and after every person he encounters along the period of his existence, the author continued the other person's story till their demise before catching back up to the murder. It felt a little unnecessary to me.
