Those Who Cannot Look at Mirrors will Seek Hammers

My country of birth remembers the declaration of Martial Law 40 years ago today. Actually it was signed into law on 11 September 1972 – if I remember my history books right – but was only declared on the 21st.

Recently a new law was signed by the current president. It comes close to an Orwellian vision. Here’s a link to an article from Rappler:

CYBERCRIME LAW gives idiots in power a way to deal with any form of opposition.

Rose Boehm Scary! The Filipinos will have to get very good at hiding their IP addresses. I know that it can be done.

Jim Agustin Rose, there's huge resistance to the law, and various groups are coming together to fight it - including a particularly stupid senator who inserted clauses at the last minute.

Rose Boehm What it boils down to is total censorship. And stupid senators often win because they're in the majority. I am rooting for you guys.

Jim Agustin thanks, Rose. There is no way they can win. Not with so many vigilant people there. All I can do from here is make some noise. I still haven't bought my citizenship back. Believe that? I think my rebel forces haven't heard my call. hahahahaha

Rose Boehm 'Bought' your citizenship back? You can 'buy' it?
