Contrary to popular belief, Rizal published three not two books. Everyone knows or has read the Noli (1887) and the Fili (1891) few know about Rizal's second book, his annotated edition of Antonio de Morga's Sucesos de las islas Filipinas (Events of the Philippine Islands) published in Paris in 1890. This autographed copy is in a private collection in Manila, it was presented to his Spanish bodyguard in 1887 Jose Taviel de Andrade whose brother Luis would be his counsel during his trial for treason in 1896.
