Contemplating a Move Using Intuition
Just writing that sentence makes me feel a little twinge in my heart. We’ve lived in our house since we got married almost twenty years ago. We love our neighbors and our neighborhood and even our house! However, we’ve also been hearing that little inner voice nudging us towards downsizing, living simpler AND living nearer to the ocean.
If you’ve ever read my books or newsletter or had an intuitive reading with me, you know I’m a big believer in taking small steps. Yes, ultimately, you may be taking a big one! But, the smaller steps allow you to check in with your intuition as you go along. We’ve been doing that over the past months. Checking out real estate, talking to our financial planner, making a pros-and-cons list.
Part of learning to trust your intuition is to remember to ask, "Does this decision make me happy?" or "Do I feel energized by this decision?" There are many ways to ask the question and experience the answer but here's the truth: your intuition will provide you with information to make positive choices. Would it make sense for you to be sent to earth with a magnificent inner guidance system that made you feel awful? Not likely!
I’m noticing that I feel excited about this potential move. The root of the word enthusiasm is entheos. It literally means "God Within." When you trust your Divine intuition you begin to feel better. You might even feel enthusiastic! We often ask the wrong questions. "Why did this happen to me?" "Why can't I make more money?" Your intuition works best when you begin to put your focus on what you want, where you're headed and what your goals are.
The question to ask is, "What makes me feel lighter, more energized, happier?" For me, downsizing, recycling and clearing stuff out and moving to a smaller place, makes me feel all of those things.
When I give people intuitive readings, I see their choices and decisions as a form of energy. When you constantly put your focus and attention on what you don't want or on what makes you unhappy, your energy stays stuck. You keep attracting the same old thing — relationships that don't work, lack of money, the wrong jobs — the same old issues time and time again.
It takes commitment to stay focused on what you really want. Here's the way I see it work in sessions with my clients. When they can get themselves thinking consistently about the new goal or objective through visualizing, affirming, and feeling excited about their intent, they begin to put out a new energy. It's as if they are putting forth a new signal to the Universe that says, "Here's what I want. Here's what I'm focused on right now."
Your inner guidance is always directing you to what makes you happy, healthy and full of life. It will help you stay well or assist you in getting well if you're sick. It's the way your intuition helps to keep you on track. When you consistently feel bad, it's as if the intuitive message is, "Warning. You need to pay attention to what you're thinking and where you're headed." When you're feeling up, purposeful and full of joy, your intuition sends a different message. It says, "Stay on this path and continue. Good things are flowing your way."
Each and every one of you was born with an "Intuition Code." It's the wise part of you that knows your purpose in life and provides a constant outflow of information to assist you with the choices to live your purpose. Intuition doesn't require strain and effort. It is more a matter of relaxed and open receptivity. It's also not necessary to spend long hours deep in meditation to receive wise counsel. Just ask, then "listen" for the answer. That’s what we’re doing in thinking about our move.
