What Did You Want to Be?

What did you want to be when you "grew up"? Or, what do you want to be? I love this question, either version. It says something about a person, don't you think? In fact, I sometimes ask my characters, as I'm getting to know them, what they want to be—in case you were wondering.

Steven Lets see, first I wanted to be a pro baseball player, then an anthropologist, then a pro basketball player, then maybe, but just maybe, a writer. It turned out that anthropology was just a whim, that the best I could be was a semi-pro athlete -- so, with nothing but a BA (never took a writing course)I tried and somehow became a writer! Go figure.

Steven It's ironic but I've never written anything about sports. Don't exactly know why. I've been sitting on some ideas for same for a while --- so, one day I know I will. When it comes it comes.
