Incensed and angry… Sandra whistled using her two fingers very loudly. She stood in front of the Dmitri’s desk leaning on it. Her arms were folded over her chest and patting her foot on the floor with irritation.
Sandra yelled, “Look at you all. Damn men! You look like kids who got their ice cream cone stolen from them. For all the chivalry you claim to have, you did a nice job of screwing up!”
She flung her hands up in the air yelling, “Mierda! Enough with the chauvinistic bullshit! Shane, you are her son! How could you not support her? Dad, you are her Champion! Dmitri? Thomas? Neal? Could you not even take in the possibility and believe November 5th is supposed to be the day of the attack?”
Sandra took a deep breath and said sarcastically, “What followers! What soldiers you are!”

Neal took a step forward to Sandra and angrily asked, “What did you say little girl?”
Sandra smiled and said, “Go ahead Neal. If you think you are invincible, I will put you down a notch or two now.”
Shane came over to Neal and said, “Stand down Neal. We are on the same squad.”
Neal took a breath and yelled at Sandra, “Do not question my loyalty ever again!”
Sandra shouted, “Oh I question everyone’s loyalty in this room! Mom has a hunch, and it’s up to everyone to listen to it, not automatically dismiss her!”
Dmitri said, “The biggest problem is now to locate the Queen, Sandra. Everything else is secondary. Tabbruis, do you have any ideas where she might have gone?”
Tabbruis was shaking his head and said, “No, but I am worried.”
Sandra walked over to the men and asked, “So I take it that no one has an idea where to find her?”
Tabbruis replied, “Daughter we cannot track her when she does not touch the ground…”
Sandra said angrily, “I’m talking about her feelings Dad! Feeling her hurt, her betrayal, her pain! You need to put yourself in her shoes now!”
Sandra threw her hands up in disgust again and crossed her arms, “Ay-ye-ye! Lord help us! I guess it’s gonna take a woman, to find a woman!”
She went over to the big chair at the head of the table, sat down and said ,“Now, tell me all about Mom. No, tell me about Charmeine, the woman…”

Exhausted and very hungry, Charmeine was walking Smith Point Beach in Long Island, New York. Her heart was struggling to pump blood as it had been ever since she left Romania. She was livid! She felt betrayed, belittled and lonely. The aimlessness and craziness of this past week plummeted on her like an immensity. It felt like 1997 again.
Charmeine was wondering up and down the shore flying between Jones Beach and Smith Point. She wanted some time to think and had done a lot of it.
At first, Charmeine re-ran the whole scene in the study and the terrace in her mind, over and over, digging a deeper rut in her memory. However, the betrayal came from the root feeling of fear…. her fear!
Fear she wasn’t good enough. Fear she was incapable to be anyone’s Queen. Finally, fear she wasn’t strong enough to be a skilled weapon against the Elder Council.
The biggest problem now Charmeine faced was logistics. She needed to get to Athens, Greece and quick! The battle was a day away. In her haste to retreat from the castle she took no money, credit cards, passport, clothes or even a cell phone.
Charmeine sat down and began to cry. Her heart beat like it had a steel band around it. Ever since she left, her heart was never the same. Charmeine folded herself in a ball putting her legs up to her chest. She put her head on her knees and her arms gripped around her legs. She just rocked back and forth, comforting herself.
Charmeine started to cry like she did the night she realized she loved Tabbruis. She thought, ‘God, it seemed like a century ago but it has only been a few days.’
Charmeine longed to have Tabbruis back in her arms.
Still, he failed her at a moment when she needed him. Charmeine was crying so hard her chest was beginning to hurt. She closed her eyes to try blot out the memory of his touch, it just hurt too much.

Men and Women… We are different…
But is that so bad?
I have loved this song since I heard it in 1986, it is a joy to share it with you now!
