Is this too cheesy? Bonus points for honesty!

Quick question to readers:

Does the name Aurora Sky for a character (a vampire hunter) living in Alaska make your eyes roll?

It's also the main title of the book so I wanted it to be cool, plus she's named after the aurora borealis.

I've had positive feedback until a friend pointed out that I could get ripped in reviews - like naming a character who likes to sing "Melody." Cringe.

She thought Aurora was fine, but I might consider the last name.

Aurora Smith just doesn't have the same ring to it.

I mean, if a hit TV series can get away with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, can't I keep Aurora Sky?

Thoughts?

Rachel (aka Ms4Tune) I personally have no problem with the name but I get your friends point. Then again I agree with you too that Aurora Smith doesn't quite roll of the tongue as beautifully as Aurora Sky. If she's going to be a character that stands out then stay with it but if you want a character that blends in with society but has a wicked past-time perhaps think about finding a more common surname that holds that hidden sparkle you want.

in all honesty, i say, Aurora Sky is a fitting name.

Elisabeth Wheatley I like Aurora Sky, but maybe add an "e" at the end? "Skye"? Oh, well, I don't know. =)
