WHAT DOES WRITING GLBTQ LITERATURE MEAN TO ME? FOR ONE THING, FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

The wonderful thing about writing is this unlimited freedom of expression. I have found no artistic tool as unconstraining as writing can be. We can say something which means something, all of the time. All we have to do is have the courage to say it, and the wisdom to know when to say it.    So this blog is part of the Rainbow Book Review Blog Hop which is celebrating the new book review site for GLBTQ authors. For you, the reader, this is a premier showing of something great. So Follow the Rainbow Blog Hop.    Currently I have nine books published and of these, "When Shadows Fall" is satisfying to me because it includes people who remind me of friends I have had all my life. This book has all types of characters in it, but I know I was thinking about the unique concept of a transgender person when I wrote in some of the people. I began to think of what some countries call The Third Gender, neither male totally, nor female totally. This is something accepted from Taiwan, The Republic of China, and into North America and in Mexico. Then I thought of the 25th Emperor of the Roman Empire, Elagabalus, a transgender person for sure. I also wanted characters which have the Western historic flavor and so I thought of Charley/Charlene Parkhurst, who lived as a man most of her life. She was a stage coach driver and according to the history books could have been the first biological female to vote in California, since she was accepted as a man, even for that role.  In this photo is shown Thailand Models of The Third Gender.

We have many friends who are gay, lesbian, transgender, etc. That is not what makes us friends; we just have always accepted people as is. That is why it means so much to be a part of this blog hop. Why not?   I have included a song of Boy George which I personally love because it speaks out against people who judge people.    Maybe my book, because it is really a space adventure, does not explain my view point, adequately enough. So I want to include these words:   "If you want a love message to be heard, it has got to be sent out. To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep oil in it."    ----   Mother Teresa
HAPPY BLOG HOPPING!
