Interview & Giveaway - A Hero Rising by Aubrie Dionne

Picture Tell us a little about yourself. I grew up watching Star Wars over and over again until I could recite and reenact every scene in my backyard! I then followed a career as a flutist and only started writing in the last six years when my flute students urged me to write down the stories I made up in their lessons to go along with the music.

2.What genre do you write?
Primarily fantasy and science fiction. But, I am working on a contemporary romance- my very first one!

3.Please tell us about your latest release, A Hero Rising, and how you came up with the idea?
I’d just finished Tundra 37, the second book in the series. I’d left one of the characters stranded without the happily Ever After that he deserves, so I decided to follow his story with a prequel book.
4. Is it part of a series?
Yes! It’s the prequel to the largest series I’ve ever written: The New Dawn series.

5. A must have snack while you write.
Candy and chocolate.

6. A fact that someone might not know about you.
I had my appendix out a few years ago. I’ve always had an ugly outy belly button until that. Now I have a nice, inny belly button! I love to show it off!

7. If you had to choose a favorite book that you’ve written, which would it be?
It would be my very first Space Opera- Nebula’s Music (Now only 1.99 on Amazon!). I wrote it with reckless abandon without thinking of any parameters or consequences and it is CRAZY. I love it.

8. Advice to writers who have yet to be published.
Write every day! If you write 1k a day for a year, you’ll have 4-6 novels!

9. Is there a genre you haven’t written yet that you want to?
I’m exploring contemporary romance right now, but I’d also like to try steampunk or a time travel story about the Titanic!

10. Any quirky habits?
When I get stuck on a story, I go for a walk or do laundry, then the story comes back to me and I know what to do next. Magical laundry time.

11. Have you written a character that most resembles you?
They all have a piece of me in them- even the bad ones!

12. What type of hero do you enjoy writing about?
A strong female protagonist!

13. What are you currently reading?
I just finished Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson and I loved it. So dark beautiful, primal, and clever.

14. What are you currently working on?
My contemporary romance, which I’m trying to pitch to Entangled Publishing’s Bliss line.

15. Anything that you’d like to share.
Thanks for having me on your blog today!
