I wanted to use my own name, but--being on dial-up at the time with a slow and sometimes wonky connection--could never get LJ to accept the complete registration, but apparently it was sidetracking whatever name I tried with, starting with my full name.    So when the attempt to join/register failed, and I tried again, my name was suddenly "unavailable."   This ...
