First words on my new WIP–first look!

I thought it would be fun to give you a glimpse in to how I start a book. I generally sit down and let the first paragraph come. After that, I stop and read it. Reading it after I write it gives me a good idea of the characters voice and personality. It also sets the tone for the rest of the book.

I just started a new WIP, and it’s a follow up to Saving Lord Winston, which is currently out on sub right now. Both are a historical romance, and the character in my new WIP is a secondary character from Saving Lord Winston.

Enjoy the small peek into my latest WIP–in its early stages. What do you think this book is going to be? Dark and broody or lighthearted and fun?

First words written:

Daniel stalked across the crowded ballroom, tugging at his cravat and dodging title-hungry mamas. Damn these blasted affairs, and damn the debutantes chasing after him as if he were naught more than a fine specimen of horseflesh. Being Lord Yartley, Earl of Yartley, might have its benefits…but it also drove him to drink. And that’s exactly what he needed right now. A bloody scotch.
