Reflections of a 13 lb. serial killer
Get it! Eat it! Bite it's head!Bat it! Paw it! Kill it dead!
Smack it! Skid it! Under the stove!
Get it back! Get it back! I saw it move!
Bap bap bap it on the maw!
Hold it firm beneath my paw!
Grasp it hard between my teeth
Just to play--not to eat!Claw it, stalk it, see it, hiss!
Pounce again--I saw it twitch!
Palm it hard against the wall,
Set it up and watch it fall,
Smack its tail until it breaks
Pummel the furry little freak!
Nibble its feet and chew its neck
Leave its body bones and blech.Chomp its fur and lick the blood
(Not quite as good as my cannedfood!)
Drop some bits across the floor-
It doesn't need those bits no more!
Juggle it between my feet
Lick the matter from my teeth!
Every prey is fun and new,And they're so exciting to play with, too!
An orgy of violence that I must do...
Before I leave it on the porch.

Well it's not like the world has a shortage of mice and rats. Some cats are really good spidercatchers as well :)
The gray one in the pictures is really good at ridding the world of giant moths.
My wee kitties always seem to decide that having fly-breath is best when they want to snuggle & the spider I want gone is the one they decide meh, can't be bothered.
One thing I like about my cats -- they don't muck around. I live on a small farm -- LOTS of mice -- and the cats can take a mouse from live to lunch in about 20 seconds. Much better than a cat I had years ago, who left a pile of old mouse bodies in a box in the basement!
Fly breath! *shudder*. I'd actually prefer rodent breath. Flies gross me out!

Funny you should link to an entry from when you were writing Clear Water. I just told somebody last night that they ought to read it. I've read 18 of your stories so far, and I realized that's one of my four favorites. :-)Oh, and as per bird remains -- bird bodies tend to disintegrate very rapidly. I know, gross subject, but I've had many many species of birds for many years -- so I know whereof I speak. ;-)
"There were children in the corn..." LOL! I have 3 cats. The older two are fairly good at bringing in lizards as part of their Catch and Release program. As in, catch them in the yard and release them in the bed just to see me freak out. The smallest cat, when she was a kitten, obviously felt outshone. One day she very proudly brought me her first kill -- a small, well-chewed mango. Weird cat.

And this is off-topic for the thread, but since I have the opportunity I'll say yeah -- I enjoy most of your books quite a bit. Unfortunately for my pocketbook, and fortunately for your sales numbers. ;-) I've got about 300 mm books rated on goodreads so far, with only 7 of those 300 rated at 5 stars -- and Chase in Shadow is right there. :-) So consider me a fangirl....

And wow-- consider me honored! Thank you! I'm SO glad to hear that Chase made the cut. I knew when I wrote him that he was going to alienate some readers--but I REALLY wanted to write a character that was sympathetic while he was doing unsympathetic things. We tend to forgive serial killers more quickly than we forgive cheaters in this society, and I think that's a shame, because Chase was, at heart, not a bad guy. It's good to hear from someone who saw that in him too.
btw -- How did it come to be that you are reading somebody ELSE's book on your profile pic? Bad advertising! ;-)

I have a love/hate relationship with those books....but I've bought every one of them, nonetheless. ;-)But you should be advertising your OWN books in your pic! IMHO Clear Water probably has the most attractive cover, maybe that one....

LOL-- very sweet of you to say. I should probably have a real picture taken there--some sort of promo pic with my books in the background. For the amazon.com pic, I put up one Mary Calmes took of me, the last time we roomed together, and I keep threatening to hire a supermodel to play the the SKINNY, put together Amy Lane I keep promising myself I'll become:-)
