Bourne Legacy – Missed Greatness

Though I missed Matt Damon, I loved the new Bourne Legacy…until almost the end. I won’t give any spoilers, but writer-director Tony Gilroy took a movie that could’ve been great and ended up pissing me off. I don’t know whether Gilroy included the overly long clichéd scene because of studio pressure (if you watch the movie, you’ll know what I mean when you see it). But except for the scene-that-seemed-to-never-end, the rest of the movie was brilliant. So I can’t believe it was his idea to put in that scene. Especially since no one would’ve missed if it weren’t there. And there were so many other things Gilroy could’ve used that would’ve answered some unanswered questions.

On the way home, I told my husband I don’t know if I’ll see the next Bourne film. Bourne Legacy could’ve easily been a B+. Instead it’s barely a C.

What’s the last movie or book that you read that could’ve been great, except for one scene that pissed you off big time?
