A New Adventure

I'm been a member of Goodreads for a while, but really haven't understood what a neat place this is to hang out. I think it's now going to be a place I visit often. It may take me a while to stumble around, but I have to thank Mandy Collins article in the January 2012 RWR for showing me how to understand and enjoy this site.

Leann Harris I'm still recovering from the ACFW conference held in Dallas. There is nothing more fun for a writer to be with other writers (weird folks), agents, and editors. You get to meet old friends that you only talk to through email and blogs, and your editor. What fun...

Seeing all those wonderful books and craft books in the conference bookstore, it's like a kid in the candy story. And sometimes, if you eat too much candy you get a belly ache. Well, sometimes at a conference you go on overload. For several ladies in my local ACFW group this conference was their first conference. It was fun to share their enthusiasm.

But for me, this was a wondrous conference. I recently sold a WWII story to B&H Publishing. That book is one in a series done by various authors. Stay tuned for further updates. I also am going to get to write 3 more books for Steeple Hill. I had a character, Captain Brenda Kaye, jump out at me as I wrote Redemption Ranch. She wanted to take over that book until I promised her her own book. The captain got her wish. Hopefully, late next year her story will be out.
