CHAPTER ONE: What is the hardest part of writing?

So, on this weekend I urge my four followers to leave a comment on what they find to be the hardest part of writing? Is it the story line, the flow? Let it out and maybe we can help each other!

Oh, and I dressed up as a cowboy last night and wrote a poem... my first! It was okay.

Lorraine Gokul Hi, i don't think that writing is difficult, especially if you have a plot and know your character. The mind can play or wonder, but it takes you to your expectations.

Christina I think the hardest part is getting in the mindset of the characters and not thinking about your own world. I have to have complete quiet and no distractions. But that is physical. Mentally the hardest for me is the flow. I tell facts and I have a hard time getting the feeling of the scene.

Lorraine Gokul Christina, i have just written a subject of the mind, and i find that we all cannot be the same person, unless we have the knowledge of that person. I see that you are writing facts, it will be easier to know a character to write on, therefore it is advisable to actually do research before writing on facts. I am qualified in movie technology and drama, so even when i have to portray the real character, i am put through character analysis.when writing you have to become that person, it's easier, the scene stick with places you know you can write on and describe.Creativity is the master key in writing. If facts are in your writing just be creative in what you know to outsource. I hope I have helped, but if you would like to contact me at lorraine.gokul@gmail.com. I would love to share with you further.

Aaron Patterson Good advice, I think my hardest part is the technical stuff, I am bad at grammar and sentence structure so I depend on my editor in a big way.

Lorraine Gokul Thanks Aaron,I think at some point, we all feel as if we walked past the school, instead of going to it, therefore grammar seems to be a major issue for most writers. The thought of our writing being viewed by so many people from different walks of life does bring some panic.I have come to realize that errors cannot be avoided, no matter how much we try, even our editors trip up.eg. send a script to three different editors and each one finds an error on the same article which was edited by each of them.I also find that editors tend to change most of what the writer thinks was their best piece, sometimes even changing the entire sentence structure and style. I believe, we as writers want to express ourselves, so it's best if our writing depicts the real us.Well, this is just my views on the subject, no offense to editors, i myself edit for other writers.
