Like riding a bicycle for two, writing together is an exercise in patience and synchronicity.
Jim and I have been writing together for many years and still things can go wrong.
There are those mornings when one of us is up and ready to get started while the other is wondering where their head is.
Usually, that's me ready to go in the morning and Jim ready to go in the evening. We both have to be flexible enough to work out compromises on the way we work and what we write.
Without those compromises, nothing would get done.
Some writers might find this too much to live with - not being able to write whatever pops into your head - but for us, it's nice.
And it's certainly nice when we have each other to bounce ideas off of, go to book events, and deal with rejection and other bad news.
We are each other's greatest strength and sometimes, worst annoyance!
