I Can’t Believe Artemis Fowl is Ending! - Blue Peter / BBC Interview

With the release of his latest book, Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian, Eoin Colfer is bringing his epic fantasy series to an end. We caught up with the author - between battles with Elves, Goblins and Fairies - to ask the questions everyone wants to know.

Eoin, you’re wrapping the Artemis Fowl series up in your latest book. How did you feel saying goodbye to the characters you created over ten years ago?

I was relieved to finally type ‘the end’ after 14 years of work, but now that I am out in the world talking about it, I am beginning to feel a little sad. I have had people actually crying with real tears. I don’t want to make kids cry, apart from my own obviously - just kidding. I don’t want to make any kids sad. But it is better that they are sad now than bored in a couple of years.

I have loved this series and am in the middle listening to the Last Guardian. Hate to see it end but it has been a fun ride with Artemis and company. Looking forward to what's next with Eoin in the future.

Dara I'm sad the whole thing is over, but glad that the whole thing finished the way it did. It was really sweet the Deication, I think that I speak for many AF fans. It isn't you who should be thanking us, we should be thanking you for a Journey that we will never forget, even if you had us laughing, crying, or just plain worried for the Gang. So thankYou Eoin, thank you for the Ride of a life time.

Arlen Thanks, Mr. Colfer, for the great fun and adventure of circling around and through the world with
Artemis. Best wishes for great success in all you do.

message 7: by Sharelle Chan (new)

Sharelle Chan I still need to read it but I am sad that the tales of Artemis Fowl has alas, come to an end.

Your books have continued to keep me company and I hope I can continue supporting you in the future, Mr. Colfer. :)

message 8: by Gilberto (new)

Gilberto Ive read and reread AF too many times to count. As much as I love the series though, I think it wise that Mr. Colfer decided to finally bring it to an end. Things can get tired and repetitive sometimes, and its always best to finish strong.
