Sherman Hemsley (1938-2012) was interviewed for one hour in Burbank, CA. Hemsley spoke of his early career as a stage actor (while continuing to work a day-job at the post office) and his rise to fame as “George Jefferson” on All in the Family.  He spoke of his being cast for the role and the subsequent spin-off, The Jeffersons. After the show went off the air, Mr. Hemsely continued performing in another sitcom, Amen.   The interview was conducted by Karen Herman on August 17, 2003.
