Nothing like a last-minute title change to throw you for a loop. On Friday, while speaking to my editor, he mentioned that the house didn't like my title and offered this one—We Thought Ourselves Good People Who Lived Good Lives. I hated it. But then I slept on it over the weekend and realized that it wasn't half bad. In fact, I kind of love it. I'm all for long titles as evidenced by my collection, so this title seems utterly befitting and pretty darn brilliant. Thanks, Algonquin Books, for breathing another bit of new life into the book.
