The mysterious crock-a-gator

my family

We made it back from our first family vacation without any hitches. Well, almost. There was the mysterious crock-a-gator, but we'll get to that in a minute.

The family spent 2 much needed days of fun in the sun in Fernandina Beach, FL. My dear honey and I came back with his and her burns (his words:), and the kids aren't much whiter, but it was so worth the little bit of pain.

While we were there, we visited Fort Clinch, a 19th century fort garrisoned during the Civil and Spanish-American Wars. My two boys had already visited it once and, interestingly enough, we got a picture of my 17 year old sitting on the historic crapper with almost the same expression he had on his face nearly four years ago in an identical picture my mother had taken. Classic, huh? LOL

Oh, and about that mysterious crock-a-gator. Like I said, we nearly made it home without a single hitch...until we ran over the crock-a-gator in the middle of the night on our return trip home. What's a crock-a-gator? Yep, you guessed it, a cross between a crocodile and an alligator when someone can't tell the difference. At least, that's what my dear honey has named them. We really aren't sure what we hit, but it sure did look like a mysterious reptile. Then again, it was probably just a six-foot long piece of rubber. :)
