Since this Smallville thing happened, I keep reading how mean dc is to make Bryan choose Babs for the book to replace…

Well, jeez, if THOSE experts say it… Actually, you are wrong. When this first came up, the story, the ‘myth’, was that Bryan was forced to use Barbara. Bryan told me that wasn’t the case…he could have used Cass or Helena, he chose Barbara. And I am baffled about the defending dc thing, my sympathies here lie with Bryan, who has to rewrite, and with the readers, who are justifiably disappointed. Bryan choosing Barbara doesn’t make the story any less disappointing for Steph fans.

So when art is already done to look like Steph (a taller blonde white girl) you’re going to honestly say Cass was a real option to use

really

Saying something like that makes me doubt Helena was a real option either, which pretty much left Barbara. Especially because a good part of the writing was done as well and there’s no way to make Helena’s or Cass’s personalities line up with Steph. Since you’ve been writing Barbara with a pale imitation of Steph’s voice for nearly a year now, no doubt Steph in Smallville could be fudged a bit to be Barbara.

And you’re just arguing semantics with what the “myth” was really about. DC forced him to not use Steph at the last minute. That is true. The bit about it being “his choice” to use Barbara is irrelevant, because there were no other feasible options. Stop trying to guilt people into buying the book; it makes you come off as a shill for the company. Nobody’s going to start buying a book they weren’t going to buy before just because Barbara is in it. She’s everywhere! It’s inescapable.

Also the treatment of the fan who asked about it at Comic-Con was rude, dismissive, and awful. DC is a fucking joke of a company, and I find it hard to respect anyone who would choose to work for them, much less defend every asinine decision they make.

Well, I am going by what he told me. But ‘art being done’ just shows how these things gain momentum. Art gets redrawn ALL THE TIME. It’s common as dirt.

I feel bad people are mad, they are disappointed, so am I. The whole thing sucks.
