GAH! Kill me! Drop a bomb like that in the middle of this lovely summer post *sigh* such is the way of authors that want to torture their readers/fans. You obviously have a beautiful story to tell and we all can't wait to see how it happens.

Why oh why can't you guys all come to Sacramento California!?!? PLEASE!!!!!!!! As for OOB... I AM LITERALLY DYING as I wait for this wonderful story to be out!!!! I hope Emma and Evan find their true happiness. You can only run away from a guy so many times before he gives up. I hope they don't give up. :(
Please make it so Emma and Evan have a happily ever after ending! I don't think I can read it knowing they won't end up together :-( You are a talented and I love your books, thank you
I cannot wait for this book..I've just finished re-reading barely breathing and I still love it! I feel like I will be an emotional wreck with this next book. To be honest even though I always want a happy love story its those books that don't always have the perfect story and have up and downs throughout that leave a lasting impression and become my favourite books. I think Evan might end up with someone else in the next book which would be heartbreaking but I see a happy ending in there somewhere.. hope this book is out this year! torture waiting, but well worth it I'm sure. :)
I'm worn out emotionally already and you haven't even published it!!! I really can't wait to see how it all ends up. There are very few books that bring out strong emotions in me, and yours are in that group.
Rebecca can I just say OMG you are an amazing writer I am totally hooked I can't even begin to tell you how much so
GIRL GET CRACKING I NEED MY FIX;)
<3 I live for breathing
Thank you so much for the update! I fell in love with your book and am dying not knowing what will happen next but totally understand and it is worth the wait! :) Thank you for an amazing series!
Thank god there's HOPE! I've got heavy anxiety about them. hahahaha! I think you'll kill me if this ends in tragedy.
I just finished Barely Breathing at 2am (on a work night) and was heart broken! I even woke feeling it still! Loved the first two but I sure hope that in the end Emma and Evan are together but I can't wait to find out...I was/am very moved by your creations! Thank you for sharing this story with us!!!
Just finished Barely Breathing, and I am shredded! Just sayin'....I will torture myself again when your next book comes out though...because that's just who I am, and I have hope!
Oh, I just finished Barely Breathing ... it was so emotional ... I cried my eyes out ... and I was secretly hoping that OOB will be out soon ... and now ...Ooh I'm gonna die :D Just CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!! :D
I am an avid reader... always have been. I find these books addictive. But, like life, there is not always a happy ending, but we can always "hope". I sincerely hope we get a happy ending. Sometimes part of the escape is just that... PS please make sure you areavailable on Kindle!
thanks
Looking for a happy ending with Jonathan!
I just read the first two books in two days! I am exhausted and emotionally drained...please hurry and finish the next book! I can't wait!!
Can you give us a timeline when the third book will be released???I just finished the second book, and I want to start the next one ASAP!!!
If it is going to be awhile, I will probably have to re-read the first 2. Please
Hurry and release the final book, since you have read all of the comments

And sometimes, I'm just updating my books that I read a while ago. I don't read much when I'm writing since it's hard to have another author's voice in my head. I'm very selective when I'm in writing mode!

I'll be making an announcement in October regarding the release of Out of Breath!
Please know that I may torture you, but I assure you that I'm not sadistic.
Ms. Donovan... are you sure you're not just a little bit sadistic?? LOL
... and I agree... I wish we could pause the summer. It seems to be disappearing very quickly on us.

It looks like I should wait for the third installment before reading this! I just started and think I could not handle it if the books end in suspense! Lol
As any reader we get caught up emotionally in most of the books we read. I have read several this summer (50 shades, etc) yet I honestly fell in love with the Barely Breathing series. Life is not perfect or we wouldn't have these wonderful love stories. I am counting down the days for OOB & I still have hope for Emma & Ethan b/c as he sated at the end about his boxes "I don't know if I'm staying". To me that says a thousand words! But please don't break our hearts! Many Blessings.
I received a Kindle Fire as a bonus...at work...from my Boss.../Dad Feb.08,2012. I have become addicted to my Kindle. I started reading the classics. I was introduced to some series books. I have read 5 series of books some series containing up to 3 to 4 books in the series. Each one containing a different aspect as to why it is now my favorite book or series. ie: Character probability, Historical Value, The Good V/S evil plot, Moral lesson. Having said that I must now say that I didn't really get into this story at first. I was able to look for the quotation marks that let me know when people were talking. It became predictable. I was able to fumble through pages at a time without having to read a word and I still kept up. "Oh poor Emma" sometimes I wanted to jump through the book and slap her. Her strength was her downfall, her downfall is where she found strength. B.S.
"Sorry Rebecca" I have a point I promise. I didn't like the way it was written. Some of the dialogue was contradicting Too much Drama for just one person. She should've been wearing a sign "Walking Tornado, Coming to a heart near you."
Wait for it...."What? Are you kidding me? I have to wait how long for the third book?" I did it I hung in there to the very end of the epilogue. I think I can see where Rebecca is going with this just like everything else in the other two books and I have to say I like it. I will keep in mind that the predictablity of the other two books is what got you this far so I'll act surprised.
"Hey Rebecca, Surprise Me!"
It must be said that the last "EVAN" event didn't have to be her eye opener the fact that he was her mother's should've been a deterant. Wink, Wink.
Please don not take my words as a form of hate readers, but more as "Constructive Criticism". I would just like to see the author push the boundaries in the next book. And by that I mean don't conform, don't concede to expectantcies and for "Pete's Sake" get a thesarus.
I will keep my eye out for more by this author, which ever side of the fence she decides to end this story on. I'm leaning for the not so obvious and whoa I did not see that coming!

There were actually two times (1&2) when I was like "Wow, I did not see that coming." I am glad these were put on my lists of suggestions. Like I said, Not a hater, becoming a fan!!!
I read the first two books in 3 days only to find out that the third installment isn't out yet and the date won't be announced til OCTOBER?!?!?NOOOOOOOO!!!!!! TORTURE!!!
I fell in love with the characters in this book and couldn't find stopping points in any of the chapters (found myself reading in bed well into the wee hours of morning NOT. EVEN. CARING. about getting up for work the next day). Even spent lunch reading in my car just to escape everyone and everything else so I could focus on Emma & Evan. I was addicted. I AM addicted.
When OOB finally comes out....I'm pretty sure I'll call in sick to work and read it beginning to end. Thank you Rebecca for such a great story, I can't wait!
uh oh, I just read this blog update and it has me very nervous. I read most of my books electronically now but if the third book doesn't have a happy ending I may have to go buy a hard copy book so I can throw it out the window..that's happened before. What will be will be and I'll still read the story without skipping to the end and enjoying every page of it and staying hopeful to the end but god help my poor husband for the grumpy mood his wife will be in if this story ends the way the second book did.
HI! I elected to remove a few comments from this post, and actually edited my blog entry, since there were references to the ending of Barely Breathing and I don't want to detract from anyone's reading experience. I hope you understand (I was even at fault of doing this)! One of my FB pages is a Spoiler Page where you can vent and discuss the ending all you'd like: www.facebook.com/thebreathingseries.

Great post! You said: "I apologize in advance for those of you who wanted this to be a beautiful love story. It is a love story. It is beautiful. And tragic. And soul wrenching. And it will make you experience every range of emotion you can possibly feel ~ even more so than its predecessors. But you will love it!"
You made me now look forward to this book even more than I already was!!! (if that's at all possible!) there is something about a tragic, heart wrenching story. I applaud you for doing that. For me, books like that stick in my head for so long, long after they have been read. Well, and sometimes stories don't need to be wrapped up in a pretty little bow and all happily ever after. But regardless, I'm super looking forward to the next book!
Just finished Bare Breathing and now cannot wait for the next installment! Feel so connected to the characters you've created and I do hope there's a happy ending (such a sucker for happy endings!!) or closure. It is a soul wrenching story, but somehow it worked. I wouldn't expect things to be easy for Emma after having gone through what she had to go through in both books. Amazing journey. Looking forward to reading the 3rd book!
